SMALL TOWN DESIGN INITIATIVE  FINAL PRESENTATION. (large file 19,235KB pdf)

Michigan State University’s Small Town Design Initiative Program enthusiastically selected Green Lake Township’s application for a streetscape and corridor design.  The final presentation of their design will be presented on July 15, 2008, at 6:30 pm at the Interlochen Library.  We invite all of you to participate in this event.  We are very excited to see the vision of Interlochen through the fresh eyes of the Michigan State students and faculty.

Green Lake Township has been selected to participate in the Michigan State University’s Small Town Design Initiative.  Over the next four to six months, the Small Town Design Initiative will be developing a design for the Interlochen village area.  Read more.

We will be conducting a series of three “visioning” sessions over the course of four to six months to develop an image/vision/sense of place.  These sessions will be facilitated by MSU personnel and will lead directly to later physical projects.  The general public is invited and urged to attend.  This includes, but is not limited to:

  • All citizens of Green Township,
  • All elected and appointed township, county and City of Traverse City officials,
  • All township and county employees,
  • Officers and members of all local organizations and clubs,
  • School officials and PTA members,
  • Representatives from youth and senior groups, and
  • All local business owners.

Please attend and voice your opinions.  Should you be willing to help in this effort in any capacity through ideas, suggestions, or physical assistance, please contact Krysti Baker at 276-9329.
