Full firefighting and rescue capabilities in Green Lake Township are offered through Battalion 4 and an inter-governmental cooperative arrangement with other Grand Traverse County townships. Equipment housed at the Township Fire Hall include a fire engine truck, a tanker, an ambulance, and a wildfire truck. Ambulance and fire crews respond to many kinds of emergencies, including structure fires, accidents, medical emergencies, bomb threats, fuel spills, hazardous material situations, surface water rescues, wildfires, and downed power lines. Funding for emergency services in Green Lake Township through 2008 is provided by a 1.5-mill measure that was approved by voters in 2003.
